Hi Shannon, thanks for following our blog. We encourage our interns to express opinions and creativity through their posts, but don’t rewrite them only proof for spelling and grammar errors. Arieh brings the benefits of his experience to Fusion and we’re proud of his work. More of his writing can be found on his personal website at http://www.ariehlevi.com/portfolio.html. We think you’ll find that his work speaks for his talent. It’s great to see a rising start in our industry starting in high school!

Wow, I am very impressed that a high school senior can write so eloquently on a subject she had no prior experience or knowledge of before a couple of weeks ago! I follow this blog because the information is really quite good, backed up nicely with facts, and comes from a reliable source - but I'm not sure I trust that these are the exact words and thoughts of a high school senior. I may be wrong, of course, and encourage you to debate me. :) -Shannon

Great post, Suzanne. I agree that anyone who is looking for a job - be it internship, entry level or even senior level- should be wary on how they present themselves on a social network. Those who are most interested in keeping it for personal communications should familiarize themselves with the privacy policies. Many may argue that they keep it for personal reasons and it should not affect their job prospects but, in truth, it does. It goes back to first impressions. And yes, they stick.

Ah, Giles, you've hit upon quite a topic! From the standpoint of our profession, the key is the messaging. Both sides of the debate are really good at using language to convince people of their cause. Just look at the term "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming" rel="nofollow">global warming</a>." This leads people to think about temperatures and assume that everyone will have to endure heat waves. The recent winter weather and snow storms in the south caused detractors to decry global warming as they point to the cold temps - in opposition to the term "warming." As you read more about this topic, take a closer look at how language is used to describe or persuade.

One more to add, it just works best when the company stays engaged on a regular basis with the agency. It's tough when we get radio silence.

Good for you. I only met with Fusion PR for a couple of days, but I learned a lot about the importance of innovation, creativity, and hard work from Bennie, Meghan, and Stephen. I'll be interested to read more of your experiences. Best of luck to you.

Dave, great to see that your time at Fusion helped you choose your future career (even if it's not PR). We wish you the best of luck!<br /><br />Bennie
